Bonobo returns with The North Borders

Bonobo The North BordersThis is old news if you saw it posted last week, but Bonobo makes a return this April with the release of his new album The North Borders. With the announcement he’s unleashed new track Cirrus as a free download. It’s got real groove and sounds a little more experimental than anything we’ve heard before from Simon. I’m especially looking forward to this one as it’s always been fascinating to see how Bonobo has evolved over the years. The artwork’s brilliant (click on the image to see the hires version for those who don’t want to ruin there eyes). The video for Cirrus is also worth a look with some great visuals that marry to the music perfectly. Don’t forget to do your music library a favour and grab yourself the free single.

The album’s due April 1st (2nd in North America), lets hope it’s not an April fools! There’s also some new live dates to accompany the new album, to make things easy head over to this link for a full (and fairly extensive) listing.

The revival hour

The Revival Hour debut arrives on European shores

The Revival Hour ScorpioThe Revival Hour’s debut, Scorpio Little Devil, released yesterday and seems to be garnering some favourable reviews. I’m actually just having my first listen right this second and it seems like a solid release with some fantastic atmosphere and wonderfully catchy melodies. I’ve read comparisons to Radiohead and there’s definitely a little of their vibe there. We’ll try and get a review of our own out soon. For the moment however, pick up a copy from their bandcamp page, or all the usual places. Check out that gorgeous artwork as well, vinyl fans are in for a treat with a “special edition pink vinyl LP”. Have a listen to Control and Hold Back below.

Emancipator – Dusk to Dawn is out now!

Emancipator dusk to dawnDusk to Dawn is now officially out and is a beautiful slice of downtempo trip-hop as expected. It is positively bristling with atmosphere and as a whole, a more polished and refined release from Doug Appling. The album’s available via Loci Records bandcamp page right now and if you’re even a little interested in this genre, I’d wager you’re already there downloading it. Hopefully we’ll have a review in the next few days. On a side note, it seems we have a trio of excellent artwork in todays post, evocative would be the word. Emancipator is on tour in the US, dates available here.
