At the Drive-In Reunion Announced [News]

“¡ ATTENTION ! To whom it may concern: AT THE DRIVE-IN will be breaking their 11 year silence THIS STATION IS …NOW…OPERATIONAL” was the cryptic tweet posted by the Texas post-hardcore band earlier today.

Back in 2000, after the band had released their first major label LP ‘Relationship Of Command’ – I was lucky enough to witness the band live in the small confines of the Carling Premier Tent at the Reading Festival. To this date it is the greatest, most intense and physical live performance I have ever seen.

The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2001 due to differences in the direction that the members wanted to take the band. Not wanting to be confined by the punk or hardcore genres, Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez started the more progressive The Mars Volta. Meanwhile, the remaining members — Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar — formed the band Sparta.

The extent of the reunion is not yet known, although singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala has also confirmed that a new The Mars Volta album will drop very soon as well.
